Ohio Oil, Gas Association Honors Don and Gene Huck

Marietta Times. During a ceremony at the 74th Annual Membership meeting, the Ohio Oil and Gas Association (OOGA) presented its 2020 and 2021 Oilfield Patriot Awards to Don Huck and Gene Huck, brothers from Vincent, Ohio. With the public health crisis the Association was not able to bestow the 2020 award last year.Established in 2006, the award recognizes individuals who have made significant contributions to protect, promote and advance the common interests of those engaged in all aspects of Ohio’s crude oil and natural gas industry. Both Gene and Don were honored for their long-time advocacy on behalf of the industry, which has included working with both state and federal legislators and representing the interests of Ohio’s oil and gas producers for more than two decades. The 2020 Oilfield Patriot Award was presented to Lancaster, Ohio resident Don Huck. Just one example of his efforts is that he has worked tirelessly, for the last year, on resolving orphan well issues around the state, by compiling large amounts of data, including detailed maps, so that the industry and regulators can better understanding the situation so the issue can begin to be resolved. The 2021 Oilfield Patriot Award was presented to Gene Huck from Warren Township in Washington County. As an example of his efforts he has spent countless hours, day in and day out, on the rule making process at the statehouse and with the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, Division of Oil and Gas Resources. Once a bill is passed, rules have to be put into place to enforce the legislation and that is a painstaking process to get it right.“The Oilfield Patriot Award was made for folks like Gene and Don Huck,” said Matt Hammond, President of the Ohio Oil and Gas Association. “The lasting legacy they are leaving behind on Ohio’s oil and gas industry is bringing countless benefits to the industry. Simultaneously, both Don and Gene have helped establish a practical regulatory structure in Ohio. They have both served as mentors and care about Ohio and want to leave this industry and their home better than they found it. They are both determined champions for this industry and are very deserving recipients of this prestigious award.”Past Oilfield Patriots include: Amanda Finn, (2019), Dan Pottmeyer (2018), Doug and Frank Gonzalez (2017), Tom Stewart (2016), Jerry Olds (2015), William G.
