Oil, Gas Education Program Recognized for Excellence

The Ohio Oil and Gas Energy Education Program has earned the Excellence in Education/Technology Award by the Eastern Ohio Development Alliance.The award recognizes organizations and individuals whose activities have resulted in statewide, national or international attention for Eastern Ohio.“On behalf of OOGEEP and our staff, we are honored to have our work and programming recognized with this award,” said George Brown, executive director of the Ohio Oil and Gas Energy Education Program. “I want to thank the members of Ohio’s natural gas and oil industry whose support makes our programming possible and the Eastern Ohio Development Alliance for recognizing the economic value our industry brings to the region.”Todd Shelton, Ohio mobilization manager for the American Petroleum Institute, nominated OOGEEP for the award.“API has been a great partner for us in our educational efforts, and I want to thank them for taking the time to nominate us for this award,” stated Brown.OOGEEP is a nonprofit statewide education and public outreach program. While they offer a variety of educational programming, their core program offerings include teacher workshops, which bring STEM and geology lesson plans to Ohio classrooms, workforce development, firefighter training and public awareness campaigns.OOGEEP is engaged in a public awareness campaign called Essential Ohio Energy, which is designed to highlight the myriad of ways Ohio’s natural gas and oil industry makes daily life possible.
