Mike Pence to Meet With Ohio Gov. Dewine on Energy Following Arizona Border Trip

Washington Examiner. As speculation of a 2024 presidential run continues, former Vice President Mike Pence plans to travel to Ohio Thursday to meet with Gov. Mike DeWine (R-OH) for a roundtable on American energy, which will be his second state visit in less than a week.The discussion will be hosted by the Ohio Oil and Gas Energy Education Program, according to a press release. Pence will promote his nonprofit group, Advancing American Freedom, and its Freedom Agenda, which includes establishing both energy independence and energy dominance.The event will be held in Cincinnati, Ohio, at 2:30 p.m.This spring, Pence's organization spent $10 million on an ad campaign attacking President Joe Biden's energy policies.On Monday, the former vice president visited Arizona to tour a section of the southern border. He was meant to be joined by Gov. Doug Ducey (R-AZ), but the governor was diagnosed with COVID-19.Addressing state Republicans, he emphasized the importance of enforcing border laws. “To keep America safe, we must secure our southern border now and always,” Pence said."We have a crisis that is deeply troubling to millions of Americans. I'm here because I wanted to see firsthand what was happening on the ground," he further explained.Touting the policies of the Trump-Pence administration, he claimed they "succeeded in ending the border crisis."While Pence plans to promote American energy independence in Ohio, Biden is preparing for a trip to Saudi Arabia next month as Americans face record-high gasoline prices. The president and Saudi Arabian Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman will “hold official talks,” according to the White House. During the trip, he will attend a Summit of the Gulf Cooperation Council.The White House downplayed the level of prominence the topic of energy production will have in the upcoming meeting.Click here to view the original article.
