Ascent Resources donates to Wayne County Regional Training Facility

THE DAILY RECORD. Ascent Resources donated $150,000 in equipment and services to Wayne County’s Regional Training Facility in Apple Creek.

For over 20 years the Wayne County Regional Training Facility has played an integral role in training first responders in how to work and respond using a unified command structure while learning on real natural gas and crude oil props.

“The addition of the latest props (separator, combustor, line heater, flare, ESD and associated installation equipment and labor) donated by Ascent Resources is appreciated,” said Dayna Morris, executive director of the local facility in a news release. “In conjunction with the rollout of the new GOSAFER (Gas and Oil Safety Awareness For First Responders) program, the training opportunities will take first responders to a whole new level of understanding of Ohio’s growth in the unconventional gas and oil industry while continuing to serve all of Ohio’s gas and oil industry and first responders alike. The new equipment will allow students to ‘see and hear’ equipment in operation in a conductive outdoor learning environment.”

Ascent Resources has been a partner for years encouraging and guiding volunteer fire departments to take advantage of the tools and resources the Regional Training Facility offers.

“We truly look at our fire departments as major partners in our overall safety plan and operations as a company, so we continually look for opportunities to better equip them with the tools and training they need to be prepared for potential emergencies,” Amanda Finn, director external affairs for Ascent Resources, said in the release.
