Oil and Gas Firm Donates Equipment and Services

WEIRTON DAILY TIMES. Ascent Resources has donated $150,000 in equipment and services to Wayne County’s Regional Training Facility in Apple Creek.

For more than 20 years, the facility has played an integral role in training first responders in how to work and respond using a unified command structure while learning on real natural gasand crude oil props.

“The addition of the latest props (separator, combustor, line heater, Fflare, ESD and associated installation equipment and labor) donated by Ascent Resources is appreciated. In conjunction with the rollout of the new Gas and Oil Safety Awareness for First Responders Program, the training opportunities will take first responders to a whole new level of understanding of Ohio’s growth in the unconventional gas and oil industry while continuing to serve all of Ohio’s gas and oil industry and first responders alike. The new equipment will allow students to see and hear equipment in operation in a conductive outdoor learning environment,” said Danya Morris, executive director of the regional training facility.

Ascent Resources has been a partner for years encouraging and guiding local volunteer fire department sin our operating area to take advantage of the tools and resources that the facility offers.

“We truly look at our fire departments as major partners in our overall safety plan and operations as a company, so we continually look for opportunities to better equip them with the tools and training they need to be prepared for potential emergencies, “added Amanda Finn, director of external affairs for Ascent Resources.

“This equipment will enhance safety training for first responders. Ohio’s natural gas and oil industry takes safety as a top priority, and this important addition will provide hands-on training that will protect Ohioans and the first responders who work every day to keep our communities safe. We are thankful to Ascent Resources for leading this important contribution,” said George Brown, executive director of the Ohio Oil and Gas Energy Education Program.

Ascent continues to look forward to watching the facility expand and grow to better prepare the local fire departments which respond to an unconventional well site, as well as continuing the great work they have been doing for years. The company also wants to give a thank-you to vendors who helped make this donation possible: Advanced Landscaping, National Lime & Stone, Nickolazakes Trucking, Diamond W, ECI and Pro Tech.
