OOGEEP Highlights Ohio Produced Energy In Ashland As Officials Tour Local Rig

ASHLAND, OH- On Friday, December 2, community leaders in the Ashland region joined the Ohio Oil and Gas Energy Education Program (OOGEEP) to tour a natural gas and oil rig, giving them a chance to see firsthand the booming energy industry in Ohio. State Sen. Mark Romanchuk, State Rep. Elect Melanie Miller, Ashland Mayor Matt Miller and Aaron Pauly, Grow Ashland Economic Development Office were given the chance to learn everything that goes into producing homegrown Ohio energy. This includes the stringent safety procedures in place at all times and the importance of the investments in the region.

“I appreciated the opportunity to see a rig working to produce the energy we rely on everyday,” said State Sen. Romanchuk. “Ashland County is making natural gas and oil that powers our daily lives, and makes thousands of products available. It’s important to remember Ohio’s ability to responsibly harness this essential energy source.”

“It was informative to see and learn about the energy production happening in Ashland County. We are playing a role in addressing the energy crisis facing our country by safely producing the natural gas and oil our area needs,” said State Rep. elect Miller.

Ohio is one of the top energy producing states in the nation, in 2021 the state produced 18.8 million barrels of oil and 2.25 trillion cubic feet of natural gas. However, there are still Ohioans who don’t realize the immense resources our state holds directly under our feet. OOGEEP is working to ensure all are educated on the importance of the natural gas and oil industry to Ohio and the nation.

“As we get closer to winter it’s incredibly important to highlight the men and women in Ohio who are working to heat our homes with safe and reliable energy. We are always happy to facilitate these tours that allow people to experience for themselves the energy production happening in our state.” said George Brown, Executive Director of OOGEEP.
