Columbus, OH – The Ohio Oil and Gas Energy Education Program (OOGEEP) and the Ohio Oil and Gas Association (OOGA) hosted a roundtable discussion between executives from the natural gas and oil industry and Congressman Anthony Gonzalez today.“We appreciated the opportunity to meet with Rep. Gonzalez and educate him on why natural gas and oil is essential energy for Ohio,” said George Brown, Executive Director of OOGEEP. “We are proud to support the work the Wayne County Fire and Rescue Regional Training Facility does to protect communities through fire safety training.”The roundtable was followed by a tour of the Wayne County Fire and Rescue Regional Training Facility, where instructors demonstrated how to safely address emergencies occurring at natural gas and oil facilities.“We had a great discussion today with Congressman Gonzalez and are thankful for his continued interest in learning more about Ohio's oil and gas industry,” said Matt Hammond, President of the Ohio Oil and Gas Association (OOGA). “With over 208,000 Ohioans working hard every day providing low cost, abundant, reliable natural gas, it is crucial that we engage with policy makers, to show the value we bring to Ohio's economy.”The Wayne County Fire and Rescue Regional Training Facility opened in 1991 and has trained over 1,600 firefighters to respond to rare emergencies in the natural gas and oil industry.“Educating Ohio’s current and future leaders is something that I remain incredibly focused on,” Gonzalez said. “It was a pleasure to be able to tour the Wayne County Regional Fire Rescue Training Facility, where I was able to see firsthand the incredible work our Wayne County firefighters and Ohio state emergency personnel are engaged in with the help of the Ohio Oil and Gas Energy Education Program (OOGEEP).”###About OOGEEP: The Ohio Oil and Gas Energy Education Program (OOGEEP) is a non-profit statewide education and public outreach program.
